i need a mp3 player that has at least 2GB of storage, suitable for outdoors, not too expensive (less than USD180), so i consider zen v, zen v plus, ipod mini, ipod nano. i am not sure which one has shuffle mode but if have its a real bonus. i would like to know which 1 is the best as in design, features, playtime, codec support etc. or perhaps, recommend some other player (pls provide some details). i got a 512 player now but it is difficult to use, no shuffle mode so i want to change for something much better. pls advice. thanks

Hi Hun, I think the most suitable player for you is actually the 2GB Samsung YP-Z5, it features 35 hours of battery life, and a 262000 colour screen, with 3D equalisers. The iPod Nano isnt half bad either, it looks the business and the sound quality has been well known amongst music lovers to be exemplary, although its not too suitable for outdoors use as its been known to be a bit fragile. If Codec support is the main issue, the iPOd cannot play WMA files of any sort, only Apple’s own AAC format (which is why Sony’s players are not advisable as they force You to use their horrible ATRAC3 format). The Samsung cant play AAC’s but it can play WMA’s and Subscription-based DRM content as well as OGG’s. What I can advise you is to NOT get a Creative Zen…….I have had two Creative Mp3 players till now and they both broke between 1-3 months after the warranty expired…..and whats more, since Creative keeps changing the models all the time, when I contacted them and offered to PAY for the repairs they said they couldnt because the model wasnt in production anymore! They are quite unhelpful and unknowledgable, so I wouldnt go there. Stick to the iPod Nano or the Samsung, or you could also consider the Sandisk E250, although I’m not sure if it fits in your budget. It looks very well built and Sandisk have agreat reliability record…..it plays Mp3s, WMA’s DRM’s and WAV’s, although the battery life, while better than the NANo, is not ALL that at about 20 hours. Happy Shopping!
i feel zen is a good choice.

if you don’t care about having an apple product, you can find many great deals out there for smaller players.
the Sandisk e250 has 2GB of storage, a color screen, can play pictures and video, plays mp3 and wma files, has playsforsure– you can use subscriptions services like yahoo! music or rhapsody, has an FM tuner AND has an SD expansion slot. Right now, it’s less than $150 (over $50 cheaper than the nano).
